Spring has sprung and so has Sonic Past Music

Sunday, April 1, 2007

Where to start? Hmmm…

Well, Sheila Ryan Caan working with her support team, have completed four chapters of edits and re-writes for Sheila’s book titled Fame On Me. This Elvis tell-all, girlfriend/fianceé story promises to tell it like it really was. After thirty years in the planning, Sheila is very close to completing the entire story for publication. Elvis fans hold on to your blue suede shoes…

Music sweet Music
John McFee and Joey Stec have been spending hours on end restoring, mixing and doing artwork for some of SPM’s most exciting releases.

Our first of these will be for Les Emerson of the famed Five Man Electrical Band. Les started this project in 1977, and I have to tell you, this blew my mind! This stuff’s like Pet Sounds with an idiosyncratic sense of creativity that blows you away. I am a Fan.

We then have the never before released version of Beautiful Feelings. Rick Springfield at the beginning with a great, hot, not-studio band and passionate vocals that almost have a live performance feel to them. If you’re not a fan, you’ll become one.

Then we are remastering the Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham Early Sound City Sessions from 1974. It’s said that some of these tracks were intended for a second Buckingham/Nicks album, however they made a well-known career change to Fleetwood Mac and the rest, as they say, is history.

We have been busy as you can see and are still trying to make an April release for Les Emerson - The Early Sound City Sessions 1977, with the rest to follow this summer.

Lots of love,
Sonic Past Music

Dreams Come True

Thursday, March 1, 2007

I’ll tell you what’s new. Dreams come true…that is if you’re dreaming that someone would release some music like they used to…something that you haven’t heard before, that is like the music that fueled rock ‘n’ roll and got some good ol’ music into action 35 years ago.

Sonic Past Music aims for the finest re-mastering and restoration of the product possible. And although we cannot give you confirmed release dates yet, we are aiming for the following releases within the next 90 days.

Sonic past music has dug into the music vaults for some lost jewels. We will be releasing Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham, produced by Keith Olsen for Carman Productions/Sound City Studios. You will not believe how good these tracks are, and what’s more, 9 of these titles have never been released. This CD was recorded after the Buckingham & Nicks album and before they joined Fleetwood Mac.

Then, to back that up real fast, we have the one and only Rick Springfield on the original recording of the Beautiful Feelings album. This was recorded with Rick’s original band before Keith Olsen produced “Jessie’s Girl” and “Don’t Talk to Strangers.” It is so great to hear Rick again with a groove and darn right good players instead of just studio musicians.

Now here’s a wonderful and eclectic addition. We just released Jaye P. Morgan, with David Foster (producer, arranger, pianist, and successful head of record companies) at the helm, and the best musicians in L.A. in the 1970’s—Bill Champlin and David Hungate. Jaye sings like an angel and the CD is a mix of light jazz & R&B that no one gets close to.

I truly think that the biggest surprise is the Les Emerson CD we are releasing. Les is a Canadian artist that had the mega-hit, “Signs” in the ‘70’s. He joined the Tom Skeeter / Jonus Gottfried bunch at Sound City and recorded this Album. It is like Pet Sounds meets Curt Boettcher at the Five Man Electrical Band’s house. The compositions are excellent and the production and arranging are fabulous and unimaginable. Trust me. Listen and listen again. You will not believe this music.

Sonic Past Music hopes to bring you music that has been left in the studio or vaults, forgotten by time or bad business deals, or by groups breaking up, or labels folding. In the near future we hope to bring you more jewels that you won’t believe by even more of the greatest recording artists ever-recorded.

Unreal Deal, Lucille!

Thursday, February 1, 2007

This is hot stuff. Rick Springfield, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, J.P.Morgan. Les Emerson “Five Man Elec. Band.”

We have been working our fingers to the bone acquiring the best “unreleased” music that was missed and left behind in the ‘60s ‘70s and ‘80s, with an occasional new project added here and there.

Now then, enough chatter, and on with the Platter.

SonicPastMusic.com and Sound City Entertainment have been partners in one way or another for over thirty years; and with the amazing demos that Tom Skeeter and Jonas Gottfried invested in over the years as Carman Productions one might wonder what became of all the recordings? Well, after years of digging, listening and looking, SonicPast and Sound City have joined together to bring you more of this great music.

We will be releasing Rick Springfield’s early Sound City recording with Rick’s band before the Keith Olsen studio musicians were brought in. Many of these cuts appear on later releases but none are as authentic as these. You’re just not a fan without these beginning treasures.

We have previously unreleased materials from Les Emerson of the SIGN’S “Five Man Electrical Band”

And here you go…early Sound City sessions of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks produced by Keith Olsen. Only two of these songs ever made it to release. A little Sound City trivia…when Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie came to check out the studio they liked it AND Buckingham and Nicks as well. Lindsey and Stevie then approached Tom and Jonas to ask for a release so they could join Fleetwood Mac for a $250.00 a week salary! Well, that was many millions ago…both records and dollars.

And…here we go again, we have a first-time U.S. release from J.P. Morgan singing her heart out, backed by every noted player of the seventies, produced by David Foster with Bill Champlin and a host of greats.

We look forward to your continual visits to our site and finding some great music for your listening pleasure.

Keep in mind that this is ALL GOOD GREAT STUFF!

Happy New Year!

Monday, January 1, 2007

Let’s start with a big Happy New Year 2007 to you and of course all the big news bits jumping off here at Sonic Past Music. Alright now so have a seat, cuz this stuff should knock you off your feet. First we’d like to bring you up to date on the Sheila Ryan Caan book. We have compiled most of the chapters and Sheila is now beginning to work with her editors on the structure and fine tuning of the book. We will soon announce her publisher as well as a release date to look forward to… Not to mention two additional books soon to be announced regarding her days with Sly Stallone… Yes and Warren Beatty as well as another. We cannot discuss that one YET!

Now to the Music portion of What’s New. There is so much to tell. The J.P. Morgan album has just been re-mastered and the artwork is done. Soon a release date will be announced. This CD is unreal and has never been releaseed in the U.S. It has a cast of musicians put together by Bill Champlin and David Foster in 1976. Everyone in the music world in those days is on this CD; David Foster, Bill Chaplin, David Hungate, Tom Scott, Mike Beared, Keith Olsen, on and on. This is a good one. J.P. Morgan sings great with a bit of R&B influencemelting over the seventies rock theme. This record should have gone gold but never made it out there.

Rick Springfield, yes a name that was on the lips of every girl from here to London will have a CD coming out with Rick and his original recording and performing band from the early seventies before the hits started for Rick. This is his album that later was re-recorded with new studio musicians by Joey Verra. These are the original tracks only from SPM. Songs like Bruce, Cold Feet and a big bonus track “Still Got Music.” Stay tuned for the release date… soon to come.

Les Emerson, now there’s a name from the 70’s. “The Five Man Electrical Band” had a hit’ “SIGNS.” A great novelty song and good music as well. Les recorded quite a few songs for Sound City / Carman Productions in L.A. that never were released because of one thing or another. In any casewe are happy to bring you approximately 16 additional Les Emerson tunes. That’s when music was music! We are happy to announce the forthcoming release will be in March 2007.

Now, rumor has it, that there is an unmentionable CD that may just be coming up soon. We are putting the deal together now and we’ll let you know just as soon as we can… HINT!
S&L………………….. SEE YA!

November Rain

Wednesday, November 1, 2006

What’s new? I’ll tell you it is absolutely unreal! Sonic Past Music has Sheila Ryan being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight /The Insider on her upcoming book about her life with Elvis Presley. It is sure to have stories all you Elvis fans have never heard before. She has the pillow talk and the Elvis stories to die for. Who knew that some of these juicy bits have never been told before? “FAME ON ME” will most likely be the biggest and best books ever written by anyone regarding the secret side of the man him self. There is rumor of the Movie that will follow…WOW!

Now on to the music! Sonicpastmusic.com has released the much anticipated Clover album, The Sound City Sessions and I will have to say it is the best! We have also released Catchy by Sandy Salisbury, a mixture of Sandy’s demos from the Millennium days that has never before been heard. These jewels have been getting so much acceptance and notice that Sandy has already been interviewed by several radio stations. Go to TheTimeMachine.fm and link up to the radio station and MySpace to hear the interview. Wow Again!

We have also released albums by Delaney Bramlett and Meisner Swan & Rich. These artists are the best of 70s performers. You don’t want to leave these out of your life!

Coming soon is Jaye P. Morgan, a 1976-limited release in the USA produced by David Foster, Bill Chaplin, Keith Olsen and the very best cast of 70’s musicians. Also Coming soon is the Five Man Electrical Band with Les Emerson at the helm, including unreleased material never heard before.

Stay tuned to Sonicpastmusic.com for more music that you have never heard from the best stars of the 60’s 70’s and 80’s.

Hello, Hello, Hello, We have been working over time at the big Sonic Past Music.com. We have so many things going on you would think that we’re on FIRE. Good news travels fast and Shark Frenzy Vol. 2 is up for review by the Board at the Grammy’s for best historical recording release in 2005. Thanks to Bruce Foster and Fans it got there. What’s New? Well Clover as promised will be coming out soon, what’s really going on is the fact that the great Mr. Guitar man himself Mr. John Mcfee original guitarist for CLOVER and now with the Doobie Bro’s has decided along with Huey Lewis that if the 24 track masters were available that they would like to re mix them as this was the first album for Clover and they want it to be mixed by Clover with the Clover Sound. Wow!

OK. So there I will say that it is a very very good record and Huey sounds to me as good as he has ever sounded.

Randy Meisner of the Eagles, Billy Swan of the Let me Help Elvis Hit, and Charlie Rich Boy Alan Rich have made an album a few years ago that few have heard and many more need to hear. Voices of silk these boys have and I am telling you it kicks.

We have Les Emerson’s recordings (Five Man Elect Band) coming up, J.P.Morgan, Delaney Bramlette, Unheard Sandy Salisbury, and hopefully some Chris Hillman oh well a few secret surprises.

The New Big News’s the Elvis Presley project, yes a near released book and movie for TV at this point are in the works. Sonic Past Music has made a deal with Sheila Ryan Caan who was the Kings main squeeze and lived in the Graceland Palace and saw it all and wrote it down, took pictures, and man she sure can tell the story like it really was, so stay tuned to SPM and Keep Coming Back Jack!
